Expat Summer in Rotterdam
Article 1. General
These regulations apply to the 'Expat Summer in Rotterdam' competition, hereinafter referred to as the 'Competition'.
The Competition is organized by Dutch Courses Rotterdam, with registered address at Benthuizerstraat 30C, 3036 CH Rotterdam, registered with the ‘Kamer van Koophandel’ under number 63225379, hereinafter referred to as the "Organizer".
These regulations relate, among other things, to the conditions for participation in the Competition and the competition procedure. The mere fact of participating in the Competition implies full acceptance of all terms and conditions of these Competition Rules by the participant.
Article 2. Duration
The Competition starts on June 1st, 2021 and ends on July 23, 2021.
From June 1st till July 9th participants can send in their pictures. From July 14th till July 21st the 10 pictures selected by DCR will be put on the Facebook and Instagram account of DCR. Per contestant maximum 2 pictures can be selected for the final 10 pictures. Contestants can send in more than 2 pictures though. The winners will be announced on July 23rd.
The Organizer reserves the right to extend the Competition.
Article 3. Conditions of participation
The Competition is a game without any obligation to purchase.
All adults (i.e. 18 years and older) natural persons may participate in the Competition, with the exception of the staff and directors of the Organizer and any partners involved in the organization of the Competition (e.g. Marketing Agency). The same applies to the family members in the first degree of those persons and the persons residing at the same address as these persons.
A participant can participate in the Competition an unlimited number of times but can only receive a discount of 5% once. Current and new students of DCR can participate.
Article 4. Personal data
The following personal data will be requested from each participant in order to validly participate in the Competition:
• your name (first name and last name)
• email address
• social media handles
The personal data provided will only be used for the purpose of organizing the Competition and will be processed in accordance with applicable privacy legislation (including Regulation (EU) 2016/679 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data. (GDPR)).
Only if the participant gives his or her explicit permission to process the personal data for other purposes, the Organizer will be authorized to contact the participant in connection with promotions, offers, information, competitions, etc., depending on the permission given. Participants may at any time have access to their personal information or request that it be corrected or deleted.
Providing false, incomplete or incorrect data can lead to the exclusion of the data subject from participation.
Article 5. Course of the competition
You can participate by sending one or more photos to the e-mail address: marketing@dutchcoursesrotterdam.com with the subject “Expat Summer in Rotterdam” and stating the following information:
• his or her name (first name and last name)
• email address
• social media handles
The competition mechanism is as follows:
Anyone who submits one or more photos in the period from June 1st, 2021 to July 9th, 2021 that meets the set requirements: every picture has to be horizontal and has to include a person (or people), who is a non-Dutch citizen (or has recently applied for and received Dutch nationality) performing activities in Rotterdam (it has to be clear on the picture that the place it was taken in is Rotterdam), will receive a 5% discount on a group course that starts after July 1, 2021. If the course has already been paid, 5% will not be refunded but the discount will apply for the next course as long as the course is taken before July 1, 2022. Discounts are not cumulative, and a person can only receive a 5% discount once. The discount must be used by the participant before July 1, 2022. After this date, the discount will expire. Contest participants cannot transfer the discount to another person. Participants who finish in the top 5 can use multiple discounts, but still for different courses. It also applies to them: discounts are not cumulative. Different discounts can therefore only be used for different courses. One person can win multiple prizes but will receive only one 5% discount for participation, regardless of the number of photos sent. Per contestant maximum 2 pictures can be selected for the final 10 pictures. Contestants can send in more than 2 pictures though.
In order to participate validly and therefore have a chance to win the prize, the participant must follow the competition procedure correctly.
Article 6. Designation of the winner
Dutch Courses Rotterdam chooses 10 photos from all submitted photos. Who gets the first, second, third, fourth and fifth place is determined by the total number of likes that a photo receives on the Instagram and Facebook account of Dutch Courses Rotterdam on July 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20 and 21 2021.
In the event of an equal number of votes for several photos, the winner will be determined by Dutch Courses Rotterdam by sole discretion.
The winner will be notified by email after the competition has ended.
If the awarded discount is not used before July 1, 2022, the discount will expire.
Article 7. Prize
The prize that can be won in the context of the Competition are:
- 1 x a fully reimbursed group course at Dutch Courses Rotterdam with a maximum value of € 260, -
- 1 x 50% discount on a group course at Dutch Courses Rotterdam with a maximum discount of € 130,-
- 1x 25% discount on a group course at Dutch Courses Rotterdam with a maximum discount of € 65,-
- 2x 10% discount on a group course at Dutch Courses Rotterdam with a maximum discount of € 30,-
- 5% discount on a course for every participant
A participant can win multiple prizes but only once receive a 5% discount for submitted photos. All prizes are personal and are therefore not transferable to third parties. Nor can the winner change or exchange the prize (e.g. for cash or another prize).
Article 8. Fraud and abuse
Dutch Courses Rotterdam supervises the correct course of the Competition.
One or more participants who manipulate or fraudulently increase their chances of winning in any way, together or alone, may be excluded from participation.
The Organizer also reserves the right to exclude a participant from the Competition if they violate the terms of these Competition Rules or any applicable law. The Organizer cannot be held liable for this.
Article 9. Communication
The winner of a prize authorizes the Organizer to use his or her name and / or image (per photo or video) in the context of any communication or promotion by the Organizer regarding the Contest (including via social media channels).
Article 10. Liability
Participation in the Competition is entirely at the participant's own risk. The Organizer can therefore in no way be held liable for any direct or indirect damage suffered by a participant because of participation in the Competition and the receipt and / or use of or any defects in a prize.
Moreover, the Organizer can in no way be held responsible for any technical defects, lack of network connection or unsuccessful participation.
Furthermore, the Organizer reserves the right to terminate, change, postpone, cancel or interrupt the Competition, in part or in its entirety, for reasons of force majeure, for other reasons beyond the control of the Organizer ( such as, but not limited to, technical incidents or defects) or if legal reasons in a particular jurisdiction would compel the company to do so. In that case, the Organizer will not bear any liability and the participants will not owe any compensation.
Article 11. Intellectual property rights
If participation in the Competition requires the participant to submit an entry (image, sound, ...), the participant warrants that this entry will not infringe any rights, including but not limited to intellectual property rights and privacy rights, of third parties. The participant thus guarantees to have obtained permission from the owners of the images or from the persons who would be heard or seen in the entry. The participant indemnifies the Organizer against claims from third parties in this regard.
The entrant also agrees that his or her entry will become the property of the Organizer. Participant hereby waives any rights, including but not limited to intellectual property rights (e.g. copyright), in such material. The entrant grants the right, unlimited in time and space, to the Organizer to modify and use the entry in any way whatsoever, without any compensation or new prior consent from the entrant.

However, the Organizer will not respond to disputes related to the wording or interpretation of the instructions and / or questions in the context of the Contest.
Article 13. Validity
If one or more provisions of these Competition Rules are declared invalid, illegal or non-enforceable, this will not affect the validity of the other provisions of this agreement. The provision in question must then be interpreted and / or replaced by a valid provision with the same purpose and effect or by a similar provision that comes as close as possible to the provision in question.
Article 14. Disputes
The Organizer and the participant will amicably settle any disputes related to this Competition or the interpretation of these Competition Rules.
they try to solve. If they fail to reach a solution, the dispute must be submitted to the competent courts of the judicial division where the Promoter's registered office is located. They will have the exclusive authority to do so.
Article 15. Responsibility
Facebook and Instagram are not linked to this contest in any way nor are they sponsoring this contest, nor do they support or organize it. Facebook and Instagram are therefore not liable for any and all legal claims.
Article 16. Applicable law
These Competition Rules are governed by Dutch law.
